SHANGHAI PATTERN SUITE
dancing body sound, xala by Ania Losinger
marimba, percussion: Mats Eser
Dancers Compagnia Tiziana Arnaboldi: Eleonora Chiocchini, David Labanca
Art Director Tiziana Arnaboldi
The performance mixes dance and music, music and dance. The composition "Shanghai Patterns" by Ania
Losinger and Mats Eser is the basis for the elaboration of a suite for a contemporary dancer, accompanied
by a musician playing xala and one playing marimba. Two particular and unusual instruments in a stage
surrounded by a green-blue light typical of Shanghai. Absorbing a permanent place on the stage, they are
the engine of all what happens, including gongs of Shanghai. Dancers Eleonora Chiocchini and David
Labanca of Compagnia Tiziana Arnaboldi weave and combine dance to music. The interaction and
synchronization of different dance languages leads to a mutual inspiration with a synergetic effect on the
music.
